Seven Suns

Each Sun painting is based on a real experience of the sun, a representation of the time, place, temperature, and emotional landscape in which I experienced it.

Each painting then becomes a series itself spawning numerous depictions of the same experience.

The first iteration is the closest to the initial experience, but following versions become increasingly dependent on the physical memory of the act of painting. As the series progress the painting memory and original experience blur into each other.

As they shift their connection from the initial experience they evolve into pictorial echoes of their predecessors becoming a kind of experiential photography.

The process is a sequence of spraying and sanding translucent layers of artist made paint mixtures of pigment and acrylic medium.
